Factors That Affect Health Information and Education

Information and Education

The strategy to increase information and education includes both formal education in general, as well as access to current information that helps residents understand their health and get the resources, care, and support they need.

The Mat-Su Health Foundation offers two distinct scholarship opportunities that promote education that can lead to a living wage, safe housing, food security, and more:

  • Academic Scholarships for students pursuing college degrees with health or wellness majors, or nonprofit management.
  • Vocational Scholarships to assist students with the cost of training and certification for jobs in health and wellness fields.

In all the Foundation’s recent studies it is clear that residents do not have current and correct information on where to obtain services that are crucial to their health and well-being. Connect Mat-Su is a community resource center network supported by the foundation that provides Mat-Su residents with immediate access to the information, referrals, and direct assistance needed for them to thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally.
