Funds will be used to provide nutritious meals to youth participating in year-round enrichment camps addressing culture, STEAM, workforce development, and healthy living activities for youth ages K-12 throughout summer and into 2026/2027 school year.

The Mat-Su Food Bank will partner with the Mat-Su College, and other secondary education programs to distribute food boxes and hygiene kits to students in need, allowing students to remain focused and engaged in their education. 

Funding will support the Annual Tribal Celebration & Health Fair a community event that fosters connection, cultural enrichment, and access to resources through engaging activities for all ages.

Purchase of backpacks and school supplies. This assistance is intended to help ease the financial burden on families by providing essential items students need to start the school year ready to learn and succeed. By helping cover these costs, families are able to allocate more of their financial resources toward other basic needs such as housing, utilities, and nutritious food.

Funding will support the development of a Resource Library to expand access to reentry resources, educational materials, and support services for successful community reintegration.

Funds will support free-fare transportation services throughout June to reduce transportation barriers for Mat-Su residents commuting to Anchorage while increasing awareness and promoting use of the service.

Safety enhancements—including upgraded equipment, improved fencing, and the addition of security cameras at Smith Ball Fields, the primary hub for Wasilla Youth Baseball. As a volunteer-driven organization serving youth ages 4–14, Wasilla Youth Baseball provides a safe and supportive environment that promotes physical health, mental well-being, and positive youth development.

Meadow Lakes Seniors provides independent senior housing to the Mat-Su community. Funds will be used to pay a contractor to replace 5 windows in 3 senior living apartments.

Lancer Smith Memorial Tournament is held annually in November where high school teams and youth clubs from across state collaborate to make one of the largest wrestling tournaments in the state. Funds will be used to cover a portion of meals for the hospitality room, the Menard kitchen rental, tournament food for approximately 100 high school and middle school students, and snack bags for Mat-Su students. 

Grant funds Palmer High’s Sandwich Project in its weekend-food outreach to children from more than a dozen Mat-Su schools.

The grant supports a PTA program providing nutritious snack and salad bar food for Talkeetna Elementary students.

Funding from this grant will allow Valley Charities to acquire a box truck for use by Turn A Leaf in collecting donated goods, with a focus on furniture donations. This resource will expand access for residents who are unable to transport items to the thrift store themselves, increasing donation recovery and community support.
