The vision for the Healthy Aging area of focus is that older Mat-Su residents are able to access a complete system of care based on a prevention framework that optimizes quality and supports aging in community. The health and independence of Mat-Su’s aging citizens is one of the key focus areas of the foundation. The rate of population growth among the 65 and older demographic in the Mat-Su is one of the highest in the nation, growing at nearly four times the national rate. The number of Mat-Su residents age 65-to-74 group will grow 41.3 percent, and the age 75-to-84 group will grow 39.9 percent by 2020. Through our partnership with the healthcare providers, organizations, government agencies, and community groups that serve older Mat-Su residents we work to ensure that the needs of our older residents are met and they are able to lead active and healthy lives.
