Meet MSHF Scholarship Recipient Moriah Kinne

Moriah is in the Master of Nursing Practice program at Frontier Nursing University and plans to pursue a Doctorate of Nursing Practice once she completes this degree. She chose this particular program because it’s mostly based online and she only needs to visit the campus in Kentucky for one week out of the year. She says, “I enjoy the flexibility of being able to work full-time as a nurse here in Alaska and go to a top rated school with an affordable program.”

She plans on opening a primary care clinic in Wasilla with a huge focus on STI education and prevention once she completes her studies. Moriah says, “I’ve actually been working on a project all semester for my Independent Practice class, focused on how to financially open the clinic with our population and economy and such.” She says the best study tip she has is to schedule time for activities you enjoy so there are things to look forward to between study sessions.

Outside of school, Moriah enjoys “all the Alaskan things” like hiking, camping and fishing! She also enjoys banking and weight lifting at the gym. Of her MSHF scholarship, Moriah says, “The MSHF has alleviated a huge financial weight from my shoulders to allow to to fully focus on school without having a financial burden in the back of my mind.”
