Meet MSHF Scholarship Recipient Corrina Atkins

Corrina is a 2019 BSW graduate of UAA and a Udall Scholar Alumna. She chose the UAA School of Social Work because the staff and faculty there are passionate and dedicated to creating unique and individual experiences for all students. She hopes to continue to work to increase resources and support for Indigenous families navigating the child welfare system in the Mat-Su and across the state.

Her tip for other non-traditional students is to not let your age, stage of life and other factors deter you from getting involved and to take advantage of the experiences available to you during your college career. She says, “These experiences were profound and helped me to grow personally and professionally.”

Outside of school and work, Corrina spends time with her family camping, exploring our great state and watching her children grow. She says, “I am grateful for the Mat-Su Health Foundation Scholarship which has helped to decrease the financial burden on my family and I as we navigate graduate school together. Quyannasiinaq (thank you very much) Mat-Su Health Foundation.”
