Learning from and about our communities is essential to creating greater well-being in our borough. The MSHF Evaluation and Learning (E&L) team makes sure our work is always grounded in the latest data, research, and information from the community.
We work directly with Mat-Su community members to help identify their needs and provides the Foundation with the data necessary to best serve the community.

Community conversations
We hold regular focus groups about specific programs and health issues, so we can hear and respond to the many perspectives in Mat-Su. We also conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment every three years, to develop a holistic understanding of health needs across our borough.
Direct support for community organizations and grantees
We provide reports, assessments, and additional data to community partners to help them harness a deeper understanding of the specific areas and issues they are working to address. Through our collaboration with these organizations, we’re able to answer specific questions and work to support their evaluation to meet reporting requirements.
