Technical Assistance
These grants help nonprofits acquire specialized services or skills needed to operate effectively. Funds can go toward services such as coaching for non-profit boards, grant-writing support, and more.

Applications for trails and parks projects on public land must be submitted to the Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation
Mat-Su Health Foundation provides grants for health and wellness projects either in the Mat-Su Borough or to organizations that serve Mat-Su residents.
We fund projects that improve the health and wellness of residents of the Mat-Su Borough as outlined in our grant guidelines. We do this through Healthy Impact grants (over $25,000), Target Wellness grants (up to $25,000), and Technical Assistance grants. We also provide scholarships to Mat-Su Borough residents to help defray the cost of higher education and complete a degree or certificate program that emphasizes health, healthcare, human services, and/or wellness.
Requests for Healthy Impact, Target Wellness, and Technical Assistance grants are accepted throughout the year.
Healthy Impact grants fund projects in excess of $25,000. Target Wellness grants are for projects up to $25,000. Technical Assistance grants are typically under $25,000.
Grant notification timelines vary by the type of grant.

Target Wellness: 30 to 45 days
Healthy Impact: Approximately 120 days
Yes. Prospective grantees must be Alaska nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations, and are not private foundations (as defined in section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code). Please review our grant guidelines for more details.
In select cases, MSHF may also fund projects undertaken by religious, governmental, educational, or tribal agencies seeking partners for health-related initiatives that impact the broader Mat-Su community and extend beyond the traditional purpose and functions of these organizations.

Grantee Portal FAQ
If you have never created a GivingData account before, navigate to the grant portal login page, and click the ‘Create an Account’ button to register as a user. You will then receive an email inviting you to set up your account from GivingData (mail@givingdata.com). The link will expire after 30 days. If the link expires before you complete registration, contact the Grants Management team (grantsmanagement@www.healthymatsu.org) so we can resend the activation invitation.
If you have created a GivingData account for another organization, you can use your existing login credentials and set up a new profile for your current organization. One GivingData account can serve multiple organizations.
Please do not share your login information with anyone, each member of your organization should register their email address.
Once you log in to the portal, there are four application categories to choose from:
- Active Applications: Applications you have in progress or have been invited to complete will be available here.
- Active Grants: Applications that have been approved will be available here. From this tab, you can navigate to payment schedules, project details, past forms, and upcoming reports/submissions associated with grants you currently have within the system.
- Closed Grants: Once all payments and requirements for an active grant are complete, it will live in this tab where you can view historical documents and other information regarding past grants.
- Declined Applications: Applications that have been submitted to MSHF for review but were declined or withdrawn can be found here.
Note: If you would like to start a new application, please visit our grants overview page or each individual grant type page for the grant type you’d like to apply for and to access the application link.
If an application or report requires demographic information, please be sure your totals equal 100%. Please contact the Grants Management team with questions at grantsmanagement@www.healthymatsu.org if there are still incomplete areas.
If you forget your password or receive an error message for “invalid username or password”, you can reset it from the login page by clicking “forgot your password.”
If you do not receive the email after clicking “forgot your password,” please verify the email you’re using to login is the email you set your account up with.
AIl you need to be associated with more than one organization, please contact the Grants Management team at grantsmanagement@www.healthymatsu.org to confirm your portal permissions are set up to allow access.
Account holders with permission to update their organization’s information can submit updates through their portal account. The directions to access the update form are here. If you cannot see the form in your portal account, please contact the Grants Management team at grantsmanagement@www.healthymatsu.org.
If you would like a list of all members of your organization with accounts, please email grantsmanagement@www.healthymatsu.org.
Users can update their contact information within their portal accounts by accessing the “Org Updates” form. If you are unable to make the edits, you may not have the appropriate level of permissions on your account. In that case, please contact the Grants Management team at grantsmanagement@www.healthymatsu.org to make sure the right person can access the form.
Please contact the Grants Management team at grantsmanagement@www.healthymatsu.org for assistance updating your submitted application. You can also email additional documents to Grants Management if you need to make adjustments after submission.
A: Please note that grant agreements are required for all approved Healthy Impact, Target Wellness, and Strategic Grants.
Once approved, the Grants Management team will send the grant agreement to the person legally authorized to sign binding agreements for your organization via DocuSign for signature. The grant agreement will not be in your grantee portal.
Upon receipt of the signed grant agreement, we will send a signed copy via email for your records.
All reports and requirements can also be accessed within your portal account, under the “Active Grants” tab. Open the grant you would like to submit a report or requirement for and navigate to the “Reports & Submissions” tab to find the report or requirement that needs to be completed.
For grant requests exceeding $50,000, the MSHF program and board committee members will review an organization’s financial picture. You have two options for submitting budget documents.
Option One:
Submit your most recent fiscal year audit (in PDF form). using the following documents.

If an audit for the most recent fiscal year is unavailable, please submit the following four documents:
Project Budget: Should reflect the total budget for your project. Budgets can be created using the free template embedded into the application or by uploading an already existing budget document. We accept all file types (jpg., png., xls., etc.).
Balance sheet: This should include organization’s assets, liabilities, and equity. You can upload current and/or prior year financial statement documents. Current and prior year refer to your organization’s fiscal year, not the calendar year.
Current year/prior year budget: Current and prior year refer to your organization’s fiscal year, not the calendar year.
Current year/prior year budget-to-actual: These documents should show your budgeted expenses vs. actual expenses for both your organization’s prior and current years. Current and prior year refer to your organization’s fiscal year, not the calendar year.

Durable Medical Equipment Lending Closet project. Fund Durable Medical Equipment lending program that provides necessary equipment on a short-term basis to Mat-Su residents in need, such as crutches, shower chairs, knee walkers, rollators, and other items.
Ripples Program: Reducing Social Isolation in Older Adults in the Upper Su Area (2025) project. The RIPPLES, Reducing Isolation in Older Adults in the Upper Su Area program provides low-income seniors in the Upper Su with an opportunity to benefit from nutritious food in a home delivery service and eat a hot meal and socialize at the Upper Su Senior Center.
Mat-Su Cancer Patient Services Project. Funds will be used for costs related to transportation, lodging, and Cancer Information Specialists for Mat-Su residents who have cancer.
Mushing Experience for Veterans & Families project. Support for a new program to provide healthy outdoor recreation experience through dog mushing to Mat-Su Veterans and families at the Battle Dawgs location in Montana Creek area.
Meadow Lakes Community Council Bike Rodeo event.
Upper Su Basic Needs Year 3 project. Funds will enable Upper Susitna Food Pantry to support its expenses associated with its basic-needs outreach and educational programming.
